Oh sweet wonder-shozen what hasth yee done to me?
its been awhile, but here we go.
-Derek & Clive: Get the Horn (peter cook and dudley moore radio film; CRAZY GOOD, the story of making the guiness book of world records had me crying. )
-The Cat People: solid.
-The Invisible Man (james whale version) really great, his costume is so simple and amazing.
-Match Point (good, not amazing, but pretty interesting pieces i.e the sound track and police scenes.)
-The Unvieling (short student film of my co-workers, impressive, but kind of bland)
-Slow Motion (godard thinking about time, relationships, and media, throw in some sterile sex, and you have slow motion)
-Why Should the Devil have all the Good Music ( pretty good doc on christian rock festivals, directed by steve albini's live in wife)
-The Girl is the Gun: Part of the Luc Moullet retrospective at the Siskel, crazy french new wave western starring antoine doinelle as a criminal on the run from the law, like all good westerns its about how crazy relationships are.
-The Searchers (some really amazing lighting at times, i repect it, but dont call it a fave.)
-The Smugglers: also part of the Luc Moullet retro: another comedy on relationships, pretty funny, kind of long, kind of confusing, kind of fun.
-Opening Tries: 15 minute short on the difficulties of opening a coke bottle. really good. thumb up.
-Everything is Illuminated: eh, its ok. some pretty nice digital cinematography by the libioteche, it doesnt balence drama and humor that well; annoying soundtrack.
-Brick: i am so satisfied by this movie its crazy. so good, so fun. so solid. i love this movie!
-Jules et Jim: thers some really great stuff here, but im not a huge fan, the DVD though is pretty amazing, criterion put together a really nice disc of extras, decent movie great disc.
man.
Wonder Shozen Holy CRAP! the episode on patience ruined me for the evening.
so good. is the hardest show to describe to people.
